Now, there is #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, businesses communities, students and families around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
In 2013, only its second year, #GivingTuesday had a reach of over 2 Billion individuals on Twitter (338% increase over 2012), 300+ Million on Facebook and 7,000+ #UNselfies. Online giving on #GivingTuesday was up 90% compared to 2012 with the average online gift on #GivingTuesday 2013 at $142.05, significantly up from $101.60 in 2012. The momentum continues as causes and companies begin preparing for their 2014 campaigns.
