Webinar Recording – The New Normal Fundraising Business Model: Shifting To Virtual For The Long Haul

2020 will undoubtedly go down as the year that forever altered fundraising. Nonprofits are being forced to reckon with the reality they have relied too heavily on traditional, physical fundraising tactics – which are important – but unfortunately not useful this year.

This year has been the catalyst for innovation through “virtual fundraising” and as nonprofits are actively defining what that means for their organization, they are also determining the role of “virtual” in the years to come.

roger lopezRoger Lopez, Technical Safety Captain, San Antonio Fire Department
Roger Lopez is a 25 year veteran of the San Antonio Fire Department. He currently serves as its Tactical Safety Captain. As a young firefighter, Roger was initially introduced to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) through his annual participation in the Fill-the-Boot program. After a few years in the department, his interaction with the MDA was deepened when in the summer of 2004, as Vice-President of his union, he was asked to visit the local MDA Summer Camp. He was so moved by his interaction with the children during his initial visit, that the following year he returned to camp as an activities director. He has since, returned every year to camp. The past 10 years he has been serving as the camp’s Senior Counselor.
Along with his Summer Camp activities, Roger has been an active participant in many of MDA’s other efforts. From helping with Stride and Ride, to answering phones at Telethon, Roger has constantly proven himself to be a valuable resource to his local MDA office. In 2013 Roger was brought on to IAFF staff and now serves as the IAFF/MDA National Coordinator.
