Speaker:

Kevin Sims, National Director, Community Engagement at Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

As the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s National Director of Community Engagement, Kevin Sims leads the volunteer and fundraising efforts for the organization leading the fight against the toughest cancer. Kevin joined PanCAN in late 2017 and focuses on volunteer engagement and recruitment in nearly 60 affiliates nationwide. In addition, Kevin leads the strategic direction and fundraising efforts for PanCAN’s signature walk program, PurpleStride. Within Kevin’s first year at PanCAN, he partnered with team members to achieve the organization’s first-ever million-dollar event in Washington, D.C., a nearly 30% increase from the previous year.

Prior to PanCAN, Kevin worked in D.C. and northern Alabama for the American Cancer Society and before that, spent nearly two decades as a television journalist in several cities. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and spends his spare time at Sooner football games and on hikes with his partner Mike and their dog Tybee.
